WEEKEND UPDATE: More Scattered Storms Today and This Weekend – Flood Watch

Good morning from Irving ,Texas!  A very disturbed pattern will continue across the Southeast states over the weekend, with scattered random storms most likely in the afternoon & evening hours through the weekend. A flood watch remains in effect.  Storms are expected to stay below severe limits.    Highs will be in the lower 80’s over the weekend.   Not much change early next week. Expect drier and hotter weather by mid week.  Meanwhile, the tropics continue quite active.

TODAY:  Flood Watch continues.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms, anytime today and tonight, but most numerous in the afternoon and evening hours.  High lower 80’s.  East wind 5 to 10 mph   Low tonight near 69.

Expect Tropical Downpours at times today, tonight and over the weekend. Flood Watch continues.  Rainfall amounts could be excessive in spots.

County Estates on the western Montgomery City limits (north of MGM) has had 5.75″.  Much of that in 1.5 hours yesterday evening.  On the other side of the coin, my 24 hour rainfall in East Montgomery, not far from AUM, and East Chase, has recorded .08″.  With abut .80 at MGM.   Wide range.

Storms are expected to stay below severe limits.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  A very disturbed pattern will continue across the Southeast states over the weekend and through Monday, with scattered random storms most likely in the afternoon & evening hours.  Highs will be in the lower 80’s over the weekend.   Not much change early next week.  Dry weather returns Wednesday and Thursday.  Highs will rise to the upper 80’s.

Could this damage in Locust Fork yesterday have been caused by a tornado? NWS survey crew will travel to Blount County today.

. ELSEWHERE IN THE TROPICS:  NHC is tracking a couple of systems.  Most interesting to the SE United States is a non-tropical low off the SE coast.  Could this system acquire tropical characteristics and become a Depression or Tropical storms?  Ans then what?  The next available name is Helene.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gordon will curve into the east Atlantic.  A “fish storm”.

Thanks for reading the blog from the National Weather Association Conference in Irving Texas. Here’s the new very impressive Convention Center next door where the conference will take place.  The actual official business of the conference begins tomorrow, Sunday, with the Broadcaster’s workshop.

The Westin is next door, a few feet away.

My view from the 6th floor window.

I’m a student of history,  Today, I’m headed to Dealy Plaza, site of the Kennedy Assassination.  I’m going to the 6th floor museum and also a Bus tour which tours many of the key spots on that day, telling the story in real time.

Meanwhile, while Daddy is 700+ miles away here in Texas, Chase and buddy Briscoe are getting along so well at the Budell household! awwwwww

The next scheduled blog will be Monday morning, Have a nice weekend!
