MONDAY UPDATE: Quiet, Comfortable Now  – Watching the Gulf This Week

Good morning!  On this last day of September, we’re enjoying a storm-free. comfortable pattern for a few more days.  Expect sunny, warm days, with tolerable humidity, and clear, pleasantly cool nights. Spotty showers are back in the forecast by Thursday night and Friday.  We’re also monitoring the Gulf again this week.  There could be a Depression by mid week.  Then, what?  The models do not agree on development.  Could we see another named storm?  Probably.  But, there are many question marks on a potential future track and potential strength. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Sunny and very warm for the last day of September.   High 87.  West wind at 5 to 10 mph.  Clear and comfortable tonight.  Low tonight 67.  .

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Our comfortable pattern continues as September ends and October begins.  Expect sunny, warm days with tolerable humidity, and clear, pleasantly cool nights. Spotty showers are back in the forecast by Thursday night and Friday.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  NHC has it’s hands full tracking FIVE features, including Isaac, Joyce and Tropical Depression 12 which could eventually become a major Atlantic Hurricane.

But, there’s only one feature we care about.  AGAIN, there’s an Area to Watch that extends from the west Caribbean into the Gulf.  Look familiar?  The tropical wave in the Atlantic could become a Depression. Then, what?  The models do not agree on development.  Could we see another named storm?  Probably.  But there are many question marks on a future track and potential strength.

Here’s the EURO’s Probability of a Tropical Storm.  The next two names available are Kirk and Leslie.

DO NOT take this to the bank, but the American GFS model appears to favor Florida again. By next weekend, perhaps?  We’ll see.  I’m not losing any sleep on this.

Thanks for reading the blog. There will be another complete Blog update and video forecast discussion tomorrow morning.  This morning, everything is normal including LIVE on the Radio from 6 to 9AM on NewsTalk 93.1 – WACV.  Have a nice day!
