Good morning! It is the coldest morning of the season, so far, with lows at Dawn in the low to mid 20’s and wind chill in the teens. Today’s high may not make it out of the 40’s. We’re headed back to the 20’s tonight. Over the weekend, temperatures will start to moderate. On Sunday, we’ll tease the middle 60’s. It still looks like we could see a significant rainfall event Sunday night through early Wednesday, Right now, no severe weather is expected. But, the total rainfall amounts could easily reach 2 to 4 inches. We need the rain. 30% of our state is in a severe drought. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.
TODAY: Very cold this morning. Wind chill in the teens. Expect a sunny, brisk Friday. High near 49, which is way below normal. (normal 64/40) North wind 15 to 15 gusting to 20 will add insult to injury. Clear and cold tonight Low 27
NEXT FEW DAYS: Over the weekend, temperatures will start to moderate. Saturday will be sunny, but now quite as cold, with high in the mid 50’s. On Sunday, we’ll tease the middle 60’s. It still looks like we could see a significant rainfall event Sunday night through early Wednesday. The warmest day will be Tuesday in the mid 70’s. We coud also see some thunderstorms. At the current time we’re not expecting any severe weather.
DROUGHT MONITOR: New Drought Monitor map which came out this morning. The drought continues to expand and worsen. Now 71% of the state is in at least a Moderate Drought and 30% of the state is in at least a SEVERE drought.
Here’s the expected rainfall for the next 7 days. A significant rainfall event is expected starting Sunday night into maybe early Wednesday.
The 10 Day Model Blend Temperature Trend. Temperatures begin to moderate over the weekend, The coldest morning is Saturday. The warmest day will be Tuesday. Expect another temperature set-bac by the middle of next week behind another Cold Front.
