FRIDAY Update – Frosty Start – Weekend Warm-up

Good Morning! It is a very Cold Frosty start on this Friday morning.  Most towns will be at or below freezing at Dawn. (Normal 73/47) Today’s high will not make it out of the 60’s, but there are warmer days ahead.  We’ll be back in the 70’s Saturday and teasing 80 on Sunday.  The next batch of showers and storms will arrive in the overnight hours Sunday night. Right now, any severe weather threat with this system should be confined to the northwest counties. Fortunately, I don’t see any severe weather in the next several days. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Cold, frosty start.  Sunshine.  Cool, but not as much wind as yesterday.  North wind 6 to 12 mph. Clear tonight.  Not quite as cold.  Low 39.

OFFICIAL FREEZE: Likely the last freeze of the season. At 5:20 AM, we dipped to 31° in Montgomery at MGM. (32° now) elsewhere, Prattville and Selma are 30°, Greenville 32. Last year the final freeze was on March 19 with 29°. Average date of the last Freeze March 8. It’s a frosty start! You’ll need to scrape frost from your windshield.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  There’s a nice weekend warm-up on the way. We’ll be back in the 70’s tomorrow and teasing 80 on Sunday.  The next batch of showers and storms will arrive in the overnight hours Sunday night. Right now, any severe weather threat with this system should be confined to the northwest counties.

Dry until late Sunday night.  Showers and storms in the overnight hours. Right now it appears the only severe threat will probably be confined to the northwest counties.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend.  Some warm days are on the horizon.

BEACH FORECAST: Your only complaint might be, it’s a bit too cool for Spring Break. Otherwise, it’s a nice forecast.

POLLEN:  High levels continue for the next few days.

Thanks for reading this blog update. This morning everything is normal.  We’ll be LIVE on NewsTalk 93.1.  There will be another Blog Update and Forecast Video discussion in the 4’o’clock hour tomorrow morning.  Have a good day.
