Good Morning! A Gulf of Mexico storm system will bring lots of much needed rain to our forecast. Small chance much of the day, today. Rain becomes likely by late afternoon and tonight. Periods of rain likely Wednesday and Wednesday night. Maybe some leftover showers Thursday, before we dry out Friday. Sunshine will eventually return this weekend. The models do not agree on the details of the Thanksgiving week forecast, but we’ll look ahead. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY: Rain develops. Small chance much of the day. Rain becoming likely by late afternoon and tonight. High 64. East wind 8 to 14 daytime, and gusting as high as 25 mph tonight. Low 52.
Gulf of Mexico low pressure is responsible for our wet forecast.
Future radar needs no explanation. Here’s our future.
The models show the very heavy rain stays in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Still through many of us could see some nice rain totals in central and especially south Alabama. The MODEL BLEND total for Montgomery is between 1.4” and 2.4”. Medium amount 2”.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Periods of rain Wednesday & Wednesday night. Locally heavy rainfall amounts are possible, especially from the US 80/I-85 southward. There could be excessive amounts over south Alabama. No severe weather is expected. There could be few leftover showers Thursday. Mostly cloudy Friday, but we’ll be drying out. High 71. Saturday starts off cloudy and becomes mostly sunny. High in the upper 60’s.
Still a potential for a robust storm system next Tuesday, according to the EURO model. The GFS does not agree. It depicts a Robust storm system on Black Friday. Stay tuned.
TROPICAL: That Area to Watch (Broad low pressure) in the Caribbean will continue to develop. A tropical Depression could form in the next day or two. This could be a system that moves up the US east coast and becomes a Nor’easter. If it ever gets a name, the next name is Vince.
