CHRISTMAS EVE UPDATE: Active Pattern Will Continue – Weekend Storm System

Good Morning!  A particularly strong Arctic Cold Front is sweeping through the area this morning.  Showers and strong storms are out ahead of the front.  A Tornado Watch covers much of SW Alabama until 11.

Expect a drastic temperature drop once the front moves through your location.  It will be windy with Falling Temperatures on this Christmas Eve.  We’ll be in the mid 20’s by Dawn on Christmas morning with Wind Chill in the Teens.

ARCTIC COLD FRONT:  The strongest Cold Front of the season so far is sweeping through this morning.  The front will reach Montgomery around 7AM, and clear the southeast corner of the state by Noon.

Winds will continue strong much of the day, gusting 20-35 mph. at times.  Wind chill will be a factor.

TODAY:   Rain and thunderstorms ahead of the front this morning.  The rain risk will continue until about Noon. WINDY and drastically colder.  Falling temperatures, reaching the 30’s by late afternoon and 20’s tonight.  Wind chill will be a factor.  Wind chill in the teens by Christmas morning.

CHRISTMAS DAY:  Last year, we had a high of 74.  This Christmas Day will be very different.  Arctic Cold.  Wind chill will be a factor.

Cold Arctic Air will dominate much of the eastern half of the nation. The cold is even plunging into Florida.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Very cold through Saturday morning.  SLIGHT recovery Saturday PM.  Still Cold.  20’s again Sunday morning.  A little warmer Sunday and Monday.

CHRISTMAS PAST:  We’ve had some pretty interesting Christmas weather extremes in the 43 years I have covered the weather for you.  The 2012 tornado marathon was epic.  More than a dozen tornadoes.  A little bit of snow in the area on 2010.  (There has been No official Montgomery WHITE Christmas in history)

Stay Weather Aware.  I’ll have additional updates as needed.  There’ll be another Blog Update on Christmas Morning.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!
