THURSDAY Update:   Gulf States Soaker – Colder Air Ahead

Good Morning!  Not sure about the Groundhog’s forecast today, but I’m telling you you’re going to need the rain gear.  It’s going to rain.  Get ready for a soaker, later today and through tonight.  There may even be a few thunderstorms, but no severe weather is expected.  The risk of stronger storms will hug the coastline.  Colder air will follow the storm, but nothing brutal. Friday will be chilly.  Friday night will be cold.  We’ll start to see the sun by Friday afternoon.  And, we should see a lot of sun over the weekend.  I’m thrilled to say the chilly air will not stick around long.  We should back in the 60’s by Sunday and 70’s next week.  The next “big deal” storm system will be in the middle of next week.  Perhaps a Severe Weather Situation.  Not sure yet.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Dry this morning.  Best chance of rain is after Noon.  Rain chance and intensity increases later in the afternoon.  Steady rain through this evening and tonight.  Could be a few thunderstorms.  Rainfall could be heavy.  Cool today.  High 58.  Chilly tonight.  Low 42.  North wind 6 to 12 today, gusting to near 20 mph tonight.

Future Radar snapshots this afternoon and tonight.  Take it to the bank.  It’s going to rain.

Marginal Severe Risk near the coast today/tonight.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  The risk of rain ends very early Friday. Finally we’ll start to see the sun by Friday afternoon.  Chilly Friday and cold Friday night.  Sub-freezing.  Cool Saturday but at least it will be sunny.  Not quite as cold Sunday.  Nice recovery Monday & Tuesday.

The Cold won’t last long.  Nice warm up by mid-week next week.   10 day temperature trend.

The Next big-deal storm system will be in the middle of next week.  Potentially severe?
