Good Morning! Each day is getting hotter, as the big Heat Dome in the middle of the country expands. We’re headed closer to the mid 90’s today with a Heat Index in the 100-105 range. There will be widely scattered storms, but not many. The Best chance of storms will be on the coast again. By late week and the weekend, the Heat Index will be close to the 105 danger range, if not higher. Afternoon and evening storms will be in somewhat better supply. Scattered Random storms. Otherwise, expect little day to day change. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY: A good bit of sunshine mixed with clouds. There will be widely scattered Hit or miss storms, but not many. The Best chance of storms will be on the coast again. Hot & steamy. High 94. Heat index near 100-105. Low tonight 76.
Here’s some Future Radar “examples”. Notice the better rain chances are along the coast. Scattered in south Alabama. Isolated in central Alabama.
NEXT FEW DAYS: It’s getting hotter and hotter. Highs will reach the mid 90’s just about daily through the weekend. By late week and the weekend, the Heat Index will be close to the 105 danger range, if not higher. Afternoon and evening storms will be in somewhat better supply. Scattered Random storms, mostly in the afternoon and evening.
The big upper heat dome continues to expand eastward. The heat Wave now extends from Death Valley to Jacksonville.
The heat index will become more and more of a problem, especially by Friday and over the weekend.
Look at some of the excessive numbers across the region on Friday. OUCH!
BEACH OUTLOOK: The Beach has certainly had it’s share of storms over the last few days. Be flexible. The better than normal chances will continue. Highs in the upper 80’s. Moderate Rip Current Risk. Gulf water: 86.
TROPICAL UPDATE: There is one Area to Watch in the central Atlantic, but the rest of the tropics are quiet.
