Quick update this morning, involving more excessive dangerous heat today and Monday. Saturday’s high was 97 with a Heat Index of 110. Today, I’ve got us in exactly the same territory. In fact, The Heat Advisory has been upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning. That’s a pretty big deal. Please slow down and take it easy. Monday’s high, on the first day of school for a lot of kids, the dangerous heat continues. High near 100. Heat Index near 109. Not, only that, most of us are in a Marginal Severe Weather Risk again today. Storms can become quite intense in heat like this. Here’s a brief video update.
Look at the extent of the Excessive Heat Warning from Texas to Alabama, with Heat Advisories eastward to Georgia and Florida.

SPC has much of the area in a Marginal Severe Risk generally north of a Selma/Troy line. Damaging wind gusts would be the main risk. Locally Heavy Downpours, intense lightning.
