WEEKEND Update:   Welcome to Fall – Nice Pattern Continues

Good Morning!   Welcome to Fall.  The Autumnal Equinox happened at 1:49 AM.  Our string of beautiful days continues.  Today and Sunday will be quite warm but with tolerable humidity.  Nights will be comfortably cool.  Our dry storm-free pattern should continue through Monday.  By Tuesday and Wednesday, the risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms will finally return to the forecast.  The big story today …Tropical Storm Ophelia nearing landfall along the US Atlantic east coast.  It will be a nasty weekend through much of the east coast of the United States through this first Fall weekend.

TODAY & SUNDAY:    Lots of sunshine. Still, tolerable humidity.  Highs 88 to 90.  NE wind 6 to 12.  Mostly clear and comfortably cool tonight and Sunday night.  Low 61 to 63. 

We are located in the sweet spot – between Ophelia in the east and storminess in the West.  Our nice pattern rolls on.  Great football weather. 

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Mostly sunny through the weekend and on Monday with highs in the upper 80’s to near 90,  and very tolerable humidity. Nights in the low 60’s.   Dry and storm free.   By Tuesday and Wednesday, the risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms will finally return to the forecast.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  

UPDATE: Tropical storm Ophelia has now made landfall on the North Carolina coast. Landfall near Emerald Isle, NC at 6:15 am EDT with 70 mph winds. It’s moving NNW at 9 mph,

AT 4:00 am, Tropical Storm Ophelia  is nearing landfall and nearing Hurricane intensity.  It’s 25 miles SW of Cape Lookout, NC moving NNW at 9 mph.  Winds are 70 mph.  Hurricane Watch continues on the NC coast.  Tropical Storm Warning north to the Chesapeake Bay.   

Elsewhere, Invest 90-L in the Tropical Atlantic has a 90% chance of development,  It’s likely to become a Depression this weekend,  The next available name is Phillipe.
