On this 28th Anniversary of Opal, here’s a feature I did for TV on the 25th anniversary as we look back on Full Fledge hurricane that went directly over the city of Montgomery after coming ashore as a Cat 3 in Destin. Wind gusts to 90+ mph at MGM and Maxwell AFB. Widespread power outages for days. Thousands of trees came down.
