FRIDAY Update:  Potentially Wet Friday – Updated Holiday  Weekend Forecast

Good Morning!  Welcome to September. First Day of Meteorological Fall.  Start of Labor Day Weekend.  Real Football tomorrow.  We need some rain, and it looks like radar will be active and colorful by this afternoon/this evening.  But, on the whole, the Labor Day Holiday Weekend forecast is pretty good.  Widely scattered storms Saturday, but then it looks like a dry forecast Sunday through Wednesday.   The Tropics are crazy busy, but there is nothing threatening for the United States next few days. Click Below for details.  Have a nice holiday weekend! Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    High temperatureheld down by clouds and showers to about 83.  That’s a treat.  Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered to numerous and most likely in the afternoon and well into the evening hours.

A non-tropical storm system moving eastward along the Gulf coast will be responsible for our better than normal rain chance today and tonight.  Tomorrow, the best rain chance will hug the coast.

Here’s a couple of Future Radar snapshots from the WRF model this afternoon and this evening.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  It’s a rather routine forecast.  Widely scattered storms Saturday.  Mainly dry Sunday, Labor Day Monday and Tuesday.  80’s on Saturday.   Near 90 to low 90’s Sunday through Tuesday.

BEACH FORECAST:  I wish I had better news about the Holiday Weekend Beach Forecast.  Unfortunately, today and Saturday looks rather stormy at times.  Storms will tend to thin out a bit Sunday and Monday.  Moderate Rip Current Risk Sunday and Monday.

TROPICAL UPDATE:   The tropics are crazy busy, especially the central Atlantic where are there three named systems.  Plus, two other areas in the far east Atlantic.  I’m not going to say much about any of these features, because they are not going to impact the United States directly.

What is the Fujiwhara Effect?

I know I’m going to be asked this.  What would happen if these storms combine?   That won’t happen.  That can’t happen.  It’s impossible.  Read more about the Fujiwhara effect.
