TUESDAY Update:  Warmer Today – Rain Prospects Improving

Good Morning! Monday was perfect. Today, the warm-up continues.  The best news for Alabama continues to be the improving rain chances mid to late week.  Low pressure in the Gulf will bring an increasing chance of beneficial rainfall, especially by Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.  And, scattered showers will persist in the forecast Thursday, and even Friday.  On Friday, an important cold front will approach.  The front will reach SE Alabama on Saturday morning.  The front will usher in much cooler air.  Looks like another very cool weekend, like last weekend. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Partly sunny.  Warmer.  High 85.  Mostly cloudy and not as cool tonight.  Low 52.  (Normal is 59)

NEXT FEW DAYS:   The best news for Alabama continues to be the improving rain chances mid to late week.  Low pressure in the Gulf will bring an increasing chance of beneficial rainfall, especially by Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.  And, scattered showers will persist in the forecast Thursday and even Friday.  On Friday, an important cold front will approach.  The front will reach SE Alabama on Saturday morning.  The front will usher in much cooler air.

The keys for the next few days:  The northeast track of the Low in the Gulf.  Followed by the interaction with the approaching Cold front from the northwest.

Much cooler air will follow the front for the weekend.

Here’s the expected rainfall through Saturday.  Notice the heaviest rain, by far, will be in south and SE Alabama.  But, even in central Alabama this is the best prospects for rain we’ve  seen in weeks.

TROPICAL UPDATE: NHC is monitoring an Invest 92-L in the far east Atlantic.  80% chance of development.  The next available name is Sean.

The Area to Watch in the Gulf has been promoted to Invest 93-L.    Any development of this system will be slow as it drifts north.  Regardless of any tropical development, this system will produce likely gale winds over the northern gulf as it merges with a cold front as it approaches the Gulf coast with a shield of heavy rain.

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING SATURDAY AM:  Will clouds clear out in time for the Saturday morning Annular Solar Eclipse viewing?  It will be a close call.  Maybe not.  10:03 AM.

Montgomery will be close to the 60% coverage line.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.    I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice day!
